In short: Milan runs this website and is responsible for any personal data it involves.
- 1.1This website. This website is the landing page for Modal, a free and open source launcher for Minecraft: Java Edition.
- 1.2The data controller. This website is run by Milan, an individual developer based in Hungary, who also owns Modal’s organization on GitHub. Milan is the data controller for this website and for emails sent to pacsybusiness@gmail.com (“we”, “us”).
- 1.3The Modal project. Modal itself is developed by an independent, unregistered group of volunteer developers. As section 4 explains, the launcher sends none of them any data about you.
In short: We collect nothing ourselves. Cloudflare, our host, processes technical data to deliver the site.
- 2.1What we collect: nothing. We don’t collect anything through this website ourselves. It has no analytics, no forms, no accounts and no tracking cookies. It serves its own fonts and loads nothing from third parties.
- 2.2Hosting. This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. When you visit, Cloudflare processes technical data such as your IP address and browser information to deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
- Legal basis
- Our legitimate interest in running a secure, working website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- International transfers
- Cloudflare may process this data in the United States. Cloudflare is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and also uses the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
- Retention
- This data is kept according to Cloudflare’s retention policies. We do not keep any copy of it.
- 2.3Your animation setting. If you pause the animations, your browser saves that choice in its own local storage so the site remembers it. It stays on your device and is never sent to us or anyone else. You can clear it at any time through your browser’s settings.
In short: We use your email only to reply, never for marketing, and delete it when asked.
- 3.1When you write to us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you put in your message. We use them only to deal with your request.
- 3.2
- Legal basis
- Our legitimate interest in answering the messages people send us (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Who else sees it
- Our mailbox is provided by Google (Gmail), which stores the messages on our behalf and may process them in the United States. Google is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. We do not share your messages with anyone else or use them for marketing.
- Retention
- We keep your messages only as long as we need them to deal with your request, and we delete them sooner if you ask.
In short: Modal does not send any data to us. Ever. It talks directly to the services it needs.
- 4.1Nothing is sent to us. Modal sends us no telemetry, no crash reports and no analytics. Your instances, settings and recommendations are worked out and kept on your own device.
- 4.2Signing in and playing. When you sign in, you authenticate directly with Microsoft. Your login details and tokens are stored only on your own device. Game files are downloaded directly from Mojang’s servers. Microsoft’s privacy policy applies to those services: privacy.microsoft.com (opens in a new tab).
- 4.3Mods and loaders. When you browse or install content, Modal connects directly to Modrinth and CurseForge, and to the Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt projects for loader files. These services receive your IP address and the requests Modal makes, such as your searches, and handle them under their own privacy policies.
- 5.1Modal uses Velopack to keep itself up to date. It checks GitHub Releases for new versions and downloads updates directly from GitHub. These requests go to GitHub, not to us, and GitHub’s privacy policy applies: GitHub General Privacy Statement (opens in a new tab).
- 6.1Modal is open source under GPL-3.0, so anyone can read its code and check exactly what it does.
- 7.1This site may link to other sites, like GitHub. Their own privacy policies apply once you leave this site.
